Congressional Cemetery‘s Day of the Dog is returning May 7, 2016!
The fourth annual celebration includes activities for both people and their pups. Local pet vendors and services will also be present, as well as pet adoption agencies and shelters with dogs and cats ready for adoption.
This year’s event also features a 5k race at 9 am. Registration for the 5k will open March 1st and is $40.
If you’re not familiar with Congressional Cemetery’s dog policy and group, it’s a great chance to learn about how the community contributes to the revitalization of the historic cemetery. The K9 Corps is a private dog walking program that brings “life, community, and volunteerism to this extraordinary burial ground.” Dog walking at the cemetery is permitted through an annual membership with the dues contributing to maintenance of the grounds and assisting with administrative costs.
