iHomeDelivery, hopefully soon! Via screen shot.
A sad fact of Capitol Hill living and of city living in general? You’re bound to get mail stolen at some point in time. I wish I could reassure you, Hill dweller, that the mail you’ll lose is the People magazine where “a source” tells the world under the condition of anonymity that Ben Affleck felt emotionally castrated by his way-too-good-for-him soon-to-be-ex-wife Jennifer Garner. You wouldn’t lose much and anyway, here’s the link. However, you know that what you’ll lose is your much-anticipated BarkBox, the item you spent months looking for on Amazon, or your new StitchFix package.
Apart from proactive folks who set up cameras to catch thefts in action (my hat is off to you clever people– call me!), those who seek solutions on the local reddit boards, and those who provide an additional “present” to warm the thief’s heart, there is little else a resident can do to prevent theft other than reporting each and every instance of crime.
A DC-based startup called LiLoE aims to provide a solution: a safe combined with automated notification system called iHomeDelivery would provide enough room to safeguard your valuables (and perishables), as well as sending you notifications so you know when you’ve had a delivery. This YouTube video explains the particulars of how iHomeDelivery works. We wish them the best of luck and look forward to seeing their product coming into the area.
