Calling All Foodie Entrepreneurs!

StartUp KitchenIf you are a baker or pastry chef serious about starting your own business or taking it from your home kitchen to a retail concept, Think Local First wants to help!  They are now accepting applications for bakery and dessert concept business plans for the next StartUp Kitchen competition.  The competition winner will get 8 weeks of business incubation this spring with 120 hours of mentorship, an outlet to test drive their concept and marketing during the next StartUp Kitchen, which just happens to be located at the Hill’s own Hello Cupcake.

The application deadline is February 1st and you must plan to open your business in DC (additional preference given to DC residents).  There’s a small application fee of $35, which is waived for Think Local First members.  You need to have a business plan, which is a good idea since the winner will start their incubation on March 18th.

We had some amazing French toast made from homemade cinnamon bread at a friend’s house this weekend and the Capitol Hill Cake Mom always has incredible photos on her Facebook page.  That small sample alone tells me we have some strong contenders out there.  Wouldn’t it be great to have a neighborhood favorite win??  Get your applications in by February 1st, and we will look forward to tasting your bakery or  dessert treats at Hello Cupcake in March!
