Now Open: Hill Center Gallery Featuring Local Art

courtesy of the Hill Center

Last night the Hill Center kicked off its first art exhibit, Five Artists * Five Points of View, showcasing artwork including photography, painting and collage by world-renowned artists, many with ties not only to the Washington area but to Capitol Hill. If you miss Alan Braley’s large color-saturated canvases at The Village at Eastern Market, you’ll find them here.

The exhibit will be on display to the public Monday through Saturday from 9 am – 6 pm (with occasional closings for special events.)

Marlo Underwood Collins left the corporate eight years ago to discover her inner artist. L. Claire Kincannon recently returned to creating narrative paintings after fifty years working in interior design and graphic design. Her emotional mixed-media work features found objects such as cork and barbed wire.

Local gal Tati Kaupp, trained in New York, New Mexico and the Corcoran School of Art, has work included in many private collections and is featured in Washington Convention Center’s galleries. Colin Winterbottom, once a public policy and economics professional (how very Washington?), is now an award-winning photographer’s who’s work is featured in the Smithsonian.

All of the artwork on exhibit is available for sale.

Be sure to check the programs page of the Hill Center’s website as they’re adding new classes and events all the time. A free Frager’s fan and faucet installation workshop just piqued my interest . Who wouldn’t enjoy a refreshing mid-December break from the holiday madness, wrench in hand?
