Monday Morning Circle Time

Morning all! So it looks like some of our neighbors were busy this weekend negotiating an agreement on the debt ceiling that no one is happy about. That whole episode was so unpleasant to watch. SO I didn’t! Summer weekends are meant for far more frivolous pursuits!

And we are getting closer and closer to the end of the idyll! The weather was hot but not quite surface-of-the-sun hot like last weekend so I hope you all got out and played while Congress played political chicken with our future.

So what did you do this weekend?

Maria: Spent a good part of her weekend figuring out routes to and from Glen Echo– any and all suggestions are ever so welcome.  She also got stuck in traffic on M Street; opened up more boxes; measured spaces
for furniture; and sang a little karaoke.  (Love to the Japanese people, for the gift of karaoke).

Nichole: Friday was a super fun family (not mine, of course) dinner in Del Ray, followed by some late night girl talk with my friend is who is staying with me this summer. Saturday I slept in and then had drinks with a good friend, who works in Congress and was in desperate need of late afternoon Debt Ceiling Imbibing, and then barbecuing later at another friend’s. Sunday was mostly lazy and featured a Gilmore Girls marathon and some excellent boundary-bumping karaoke at Banana Cafe. Vacation, all I’ve ever wanted…

Sharee: Enjoyed a lazy weekend at its best.  After stocking up at Eastern Market, she played sous-chef to the man of the house, who barbecued everything in sight. Oh so delicious. Sunday involved a movie (the Barracks Row screen cannot come too soon!) and some window-shopping in Georgetown, and a tiny bit of work to help make Monday go more smoothly.

Jen: Friday I went to the Nats/Mets game with my Met fan sister and ate junk food. Spent most of the day Saturday at a rugby tournament in, oh, somewhere out in Anne Arundel county. That evening we went to National harbor for the first time for dinner with my mother in law and wow, that’s a very weird place. Sunday took sis to the pool and then to border bumping karaoke and performed a number with a few of my favorite bloggers.
