Celebrate the Fourth with a Neighborhood Parade

image uploaded by Jeff Kubina on Flickr

I always hear the Hill described as a small town in the middle of the city.  Our annual Fourth of July parade is one of many ways that it really does feel that way.  If you’ve never been, come out on Monday morning to march, or just to watch the many neighborhood groups who walk up 8th Street decked out in red, white and blue.  From schools to community gardens to the the Fairy Princess Patrol, everyone seems to be represented.

The parade starts at 10 am from the corner of 8th and I Street SE and winds it’s way north on 8th Street to the Eastern Market Metro Plaza.  Following the parade is a celebration in the plaza with food and games — it’s great for people of all ages so come out and celebrate the holiday with your neighbors and friends.
