Hello humidity! I guess this means that summer is officially right around the corner. And in another month I’ll be laughing at myself for thinking that the humidity the last couple of days was really that bad. The pools are opening this weekend (the first pool party of the season at the Capitol Skyline is on Saturday), Congress will be in recess before you know it, and once schools are out we’ll have a nice long stretch of light traffic during the morning rush hour. We may melt during the hottest summer months here but at least we have that! Until the summer break officially gets here, we have the final recommendations and vote on the redistricting. What will happen with Hill East? In just a few more weeks we will know for sure. On that note, there’s a good article from Housing Complex on the issue, as well as posts on a number of other topics for you to read over your morning coffee.
- Housing Complex asks, do we really need to redistrict?
- If the answer is “yes”, H Street Great Street has their recommendation for how to do it.
- We Love DC checked out Justin’s Cafe and Senart’s Oyster & Chop House.
- The Capitol Hill Day School has been given approval from the Board of Zoning and Adjustments to use the currently empty lot at 5th and K streets SE during the renovations of their main building (JDLand).
- The Washington Post looked at the transformation of the space at 13th and C streets SE from a parking lot into a community park and garden.
