The To Do List

What is that saying about April showers?  Seems like we can’t shake them this month, with every day bringing a chance of sprinkles or thunderstorms.  Or hail.  Or hurricane winds.

Hopefully you can enjoy the weekend in and around the Hill rain or shine.  Whether you’re hunting for Easter Eggs, hyped up on Peeps, or starting that spring cleaning project, here are some diversions that will keep you amused, occupied, and perhaps dry.

Start your weekend off with a (corner) kick as the DC United take on the New York Red Bulls (really?  that’s their name?) at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 21.  Celebrate College Night at RFK with tickets purchased in advance with an .edu email address for only $15 and day-of tickets $20 with a student ID.  Regular ticket prices are in effect for all others but feel free to party like a college student if you go.

Join Taffety Punk Theater Company as they explore the psychology of traffic in “The Car Plays.”  Three one-act plays race through the challenges of drivers and passengers alike, all in about 80 minutes.   This is the last weekend for this show.  Performances are at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop.

If you can’t get enough of The Boss (no, not Tony Danza or Donald Trump, the other Boss), head to the Atlas Performing Arts Center at 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday night for the screenings of “The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town.”  This documentary includes footage from the late 1970’s of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, including interviews, home rehearsals, and studio sessions never before released.

Also at the Atlas this weekend, the play “Blues for An Alabama Sky” continues its run with 8:00 p.m. performances Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and a 3:00 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

If you’re making a special dinner this Sunday for Easter or just because, don’t forget the H Street FreshFarm Market has lots of great fruits, veggies, baked goods and more on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

Check out Lauren’s post at 9 covering Easter on the Hill for more fun events this weekend!
