Hill Buzz

Spring finally seems to be creeping in, ever so slowly… tulips and other spring flowers have popped up, dotting the neighborhood with color; yard sales have begun again (be sure to add yours to our open thread posts on Fridays!); and street festivals and neighborhood events like the Capitol Hill Classic are upon us.  It’s a great time to get out and rediscover why our neighborhood is truly a neighborhood.  And with so much development going on in every corner, there is clearly plenty more to come!

Speaking of great springtime activities, if you’re going to the Nats games this week, Das Bullpen is opening tonight! (h/t Urban Daddy)

  • Housing Complex got the details on another Hill church that has been sold and is being turned into residential units.  This one with parking on the ground floor?  We’ll see…
  • Young & Hungry interviewed the sous-chef at Ba Bay.
  • According to H Street Great Street, Sidamo is getting a sidewalk cafe and plans to apply for a liquor license.
  • Ever wonder where DC zoning and overlay boundaries lie?  There’s a map for that. (h/t Greater Greater Washington)
  • DCist checked out Toki Underground.
  • Frozen Tropics says that H Street will be getting pho.
  • The City Paper, the Washington Post, and Going Out Gurus covered the opening of HR-57 and the establishment’s history.
  • DC Metrocentric shared a brief update on The Flats at Atlas District.
  • JD Land shared a whole bunch of updates on the water taxi, Sensorium, Harry’s Reserve, etc.
  • DC Metrocentric says that the DC government will start occupying the old Washington Star building in 2012.  Construction is well underway.
  • Urban Turf looked at the road blocks that the developers of the Hine School development project are dealing with.
