Monday Morning Circle Time

Brrrr. Shiver. It was a reeeeally cold weekend. My drafty old row house has some pretty frigid rooms and I’m feeling like a popcicle as I type…maybe the Snuggie isn’t such a stupid idea after all.

All this cold and no snow? Boo. I keep wishing for a snow day…perhaps I’m insane but I loved Snowmagedan.

Sigh.

What did you all do this weekend?

Sharee: We went for a change of scenery and spent the weekend on the Eastern Shore tasting (California) wines, eating comfort food and playing our favorite board games from Labyrinth.

Maria: Started the weekend off in rare form, by getting to try out the DC Empanadas truck– she may have seen unicorns and felt the flutter of faeries.  After a horribly cold walk and a drink at Wisdom with a good friend; the rest of the weekend was spent in an iCarly and Twitter extravaganza, just to avoid being in the cold.  BRR!

Angelique: Braved the cold on Friday night to see the “Sound of Palin” at the Atlas Preforming Arts Center  and concluded the night with a rum, pineapple, cardamom cocktail at Fruit Bat. The rest of the weekend was spent indoors hiding from the frigid air by baking cookies, playing games, painting a model of the Solar System with the wee ones, and cheering on the Steelers.

Jen: Friday night I tried my hand a homemade gluten free pizza crust which was absolutely edible. There’s hope! I enjoyed said pizza while watching Mamma Mia with the kids. I am not sure if it’s ABBA, Meryl Streep or just the encroaching middle age but I love that movie. Saturday, we grabbed birthday gifts at Labyrinth and I then helped my husband pick out some clothes and for the jillionth time in my life I was  so thankful to be a woman and have some variety in clothes options. That night I had dinner with my sister in law in Georgetown relaxing, with some errands and cleaning thrown in and came back to the Hill for the Make Some Noise fundraiser for childhood cancer research  at the Tune Inn. Sunday we stopped at a 50 year old’s birthday party at the H Street Country Club.

Angelique, I’m curious what you thought of Sound of Palin. I saw it on Opening Night with a few friends and we left very unimpressed. Did you enjoy the show?
