No plans tonight? Now you do! Three and a half weeks after a fire destroyed its kitchen, the Argonaut will open for business again at 5pm today. Well, it will be partially open. The patio and upstairs bar, which suffered the least amount of damage, will be open for drinks and a very limited food menu while they finish renovations to the main dining room and kitchen. Unless phone lines can be repaired by tomorrow, they will not be able to accept credit cards so please bring cash.
The Argonaut was granted a temporary tavern license, which will allow them to operate and serve alcohol without food, until their kitchen is up and running again. According to the agreement, they will switch back to a restaurant license again once the kitchen is ready. And to answer questions about the money being raised at various fundraisers, all proceeds will go into a fund for the employees. Frozen Tropics also clarified this, since the question has been coming up on both of our blogs. As for the money that was stolen from one of the owner’s car, it is being replaced by Joe Englert.
