As we move into the first weekend of summer, there are plenty of outdoor events around the Hill and in the area.
Tonight, June 3, Rachel Platten & Laura Meyer will be playing at Ebenezer’s Coffeehouse (201 F St NE) as part of their Modern Underground/First Thursdays series. Doors open at 7, and tickets are $7, which makes it easy to remember.
The 10th season of Jazz in the Garden, the National Gallery of Art’s Jazz concert series in the sculpture garden, kicked off last week. On Friday, the Berklee World Jazz Nonet will be playing there from 5:00 to 8:30 PM.
CHAW has a number of events in which their students show what they’ve learned this year. It starts on Friday at 5:30, where students show off what they’ve done in visual and performing arts, and continues with music recitals all afternoon (starting at 2:00 PM) on Saturday.
Dog and Pony DC will be performing Courage – a political theater revival, their reworking of Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children on Friday and Saturday in the Black Box theater at CHAW. Tickets are $15. Tickets and more information at www.dogandponydc.com
And finally, Congressional Cemetery will have a tour about “Uppity Women,” spotlighting those women who fought for women’s suffrage throughout the 19th Century. Saturday from 1 to 2 PM. It’s free, but remember to wear good walking shoes.
according to a friend who is in the show at CHAW they include free beer with the ticket price…I haven’t been yet to confirm the beer so if you go this weekend let us know.
If you’re looking for something tonight, there’s a great concert at the Atlas! The Washington Chorus introduces the music of young American composer, Nico Muhly who will be speaking and performing at the conert. Tickets at the door or online, only $25!
