Hill Buzz

The rain may be putting a damper on people’s spirits, but at least the flowers in my yard are flourishing as a result!  Unfortunately, the rain came too late to kill the pollen that has given so many of us major allergy issues.  I feel like I should be buying stock in Sudafed…Well just a few more weeks and we’ll all be complaining about the DC humidity and mosquitoes, so enjoy the spring showers and May flowers while you can.  Summer will be here before you know it!  Now that your mind is wandering to those summer Fridays where you sneak out of the office early, here is some light reading to catch up on.

  • You know that ice cream truck that everyone asks about on the community listservs, that everyone is convinced is up to no good because of the hours he keeps?  The City Paper profiled him for their cover story, and answered the many questions that are repeatedly raised online.  Let’s stop the speculation on the listservs already: he’s just selling ice cream, no drugs or anything else illegal.  I hear there is skepticism on the New Hill East Listserv in response to the article but come on people, this issue has been driven into the ground.  Leave the poor guy alone already!
  • The Star and The Shamrock was reviewed by The City Paper’s Young & Hungry and Capital SpiceFrozen Tropics also reports that this new favorite restaurant is now open for lunch.
  • The Hill shared a great review of Liberty Tree, and DCist reviewed H Street Playhouse’s Public Enemy.
  • The District Curmudgeon covered the recent streetcar meeting.
  • JD Land has the latest on the Marine’s Community Integrated Master Plan and their quest for land to expand into.  Tyler School is out, but there are several other lots that they still have their eye on.
  • The Foggy Dew (via Famous DC) has some great pictures from Eastern Market, as well as some very creepy ones of a truly creepy mannequin…
