The day is practically over, but I wanted to post a brief “hurrah” and “thank you.” It’s been six months since The Hill is Home went live, first on Blogger, and then in our current configuration on WordPress, and what a ride it’s been. Since our first WordPress post on May 20 (yeah, formatting was an issue day 1!), we’ve posted over 260 stories and briefs, on everything from columns about Safeway and running moms, to bar reviews, to business and development updates, to chatter in the blogosphere about the Hill, to historical ghost stories. That’s an eclectic mix; pretty much like the local flavor you’ll see in the neighborhood on any one day.
What started out as a “call in the dark” on the HillEast list serve for neighborhoods interested in hyperlocal blogging has turned into a team of 9 volunteer writers and editors with a steady schedule and a beefy editorial calendar. I’ve so enjoyed getting to know these strangers, and seeing where their curiosity will lead us next. Thank you for your commitment, your enthusiasm and your valuable time.
To our readers – who are key to our success in this thing called social media and, ahem, the reason we’re often locked to our laptops – many thanks for your comments, your visits, your feedback and the great response we’ve heard around the community. If you’ve got comments and suggestions, bring ’em on, or email us at thehillishome@gmail.com. We’ll make sure you’re invited when we hit the big 1-year; party hats will be required!
