The To Do List

Despite most of the rugrats being back at school, it still feels a little like summer here in DC. Labor Day will fix that. Check out our suggestions of what to do if you’re around this weekend —  and not sitting in traffic!

Well, tip #1 shows this hood is only but so sleepy this time of year. On Saturday afternoon The Palace of Wonders will host the New York School of Burlesque, and offer “Burlesque Movement Classes.” See the site for a PG-13 syllabus, but be assured the sexy shimmy, the tantalizing glove peel, and tassels will be covered. Registration required. 1 p.m. 1210 H Street, NE.

Speaking of dogs, tickets for your four legged friend sold out weeks ago, but you can hang out with other people’s dog at the Pups in the Park baseball games this weekend. Tickets are $20 ($10 off) and $2 goes to the SPCA.  The Nats play Florida at 7:05 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Friday evening, catch one of the last Jazz in the Garden events down at the National Gallery Sculpture Garden. Curl up under  Claes Oldenberg’s Typewriter Eraser and enjoy the tunes jazz guitarist Phil Mathieu. Friday, 5 to 8:30 p.m. 7th & Constitution, NW.

clementsidecarAs I said, things start heating up next week. On Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., Wisdom gets the school year started with a whiskey class. Study partner, anyone? Four cocktails and a cheese course is included in the $20 ticket price.
