WETA is currently working on a piece on neighborhoods, and as part of that, they interviewed me about Capitol Hill and its alleys. As anyone of you who knows me understands, I do not say no to the opportunity to talk at length about topics that interest me. Even if you stick a large camera in my face and tell me not to look at it under any circumstances.
So, I found my dining room set up as a TV studio. (all pictures by RSP. Or his camera)
I had both a mic on my lapel as well as one overhead\. They were not about to miss a single one of my pearls of wisdom.
The producer took this picture just before the interview was to begin.
Since just shots of me were likely to be boring, there were also some creative shots of me looking at maps.
I was holding my magnifying glass so the cameraman could get a shot of the tiny letters ‘Gessford Court’ on the map.
We then took our act on the road.
We started in the alley behind my house…
…before moving on to Gessford, where passersby with their dogs were included in the shot.
The alley was filmed from all angles. I don’t know how many minutes of film were shot, but the whole thing will end up being about five minutes.
They also filmed in Walter Street, to get a third type of alley on film, but I didn’t take any pictures of that. We will certainly be keeping you updated on the progress and exact date of the final product, which is tentatively slated for July at this point.
