Remember the anticipation of Christmas morning as a child? We raced through the presents but then slowed down for a wrapping paper/coffee-refill break before opening up the stockings. Often it’s the little things that are the most fun. Community Connections, a Hill-based non-profit providing mental health care to many different groups of people, including Veterans.

As part of their initiative to serve twenty low income Veteran families they’ve launched a GoFundMe page in an attempt to raise enough money to provide gift-filled stockings for every child they serve.  All proceeds go directly to purchasing stockings and toys.

Community Connections is also holding another coat drive this year. With your help, they’ll be able to provide clothes to keep veteran families warm this winter. Gently used winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves can be dropped off at Community Connections Lobby, 801 Pennsylvania Ave SE;  Bayou Bakery, 901 Pennsylvania Ave SE; and Starbucks, 401 8th St SE. The coat drive runs through December 18.  If you have multiple donations, call (202) 780-7847 to arrange a pick up if you have multiple donations.
