Hunting Easter Eggs on Capitol Hill

Did you miss out on tickets to the White House Easter Egg Roll? Tell your kids not to worry because there are plenty of Easter egg hunting opportunities right here on the Hill.

The best known is the Eggstravaganza, which calls itself one of the most “EGGciting Easter” events in the area, and with good reason. Last year, they had over 1,500 people combined attendance at four Eggstravaganza events. This year’s event at Lincoln Park will take place on Saturday, April 4 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. The event features 11,000 eggs, life-size Easter Bunny, cotton candy, face painting, games, prizes, and a bike raffle (one girl’s, one boy’s). Pre-registration is encouraged here.

If that’s not enough for you, you can also find eggs at The Hill Center and around Barracks Row on Saturday, April 4 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Eggs will be hidden (by stealthy egg-hiders) on 8th Street and on the Hill Center lawn and garden, with two prize-winning golden eggs (one at Hill Center and one on 8th Street). The Egg Hunt on 8th is co-hosted by Barracks Row Main Street and the Hill Center, volunteers are provided by the 9th Street Neighbors Group, and local businesses will provide cookies and lemonade. Barracks Row Main Street will provide free baskets, eggs & the Bunny.

Local churches are also hosting egg hunts after their Easter services on Sundays, so be sure to check with your local parish for more information.
