Jon Penndorf

Jon Penndorf has been a Capitol Hill resident since 2006 but has lived in (and close-in to) Washington DC since 1995, and wonders when he can start telling people he is “from here” instead of saying he moved here for college from New York. An architect specializing in green design, Jon works for a large architecture firm with an office in Northwest DC. Off-the-clock he enjoys spending time outside with his family, traveling, making and sampling gin and bourbon cocktails, finding new restaurants to try, and of course writing. He contributes to local and national architecture association newsletters on a regular basis in addition to writing for THIH. Jon lives with his wife, daughter, son, and cat in their SE Hill rowhouse.

Ambar opened in January in the space formerly occupied […]

Half Street Market Concept Unveiled

Food halls seem to be the new trend in the District.  Eastern Market started this trend like a thousand years ago, so perhaps it’s a trend that’s rebounding (what’s old is new again?).  Union Market in Northeast recently opened its doors, offering gourmet lamb sausage, empanadas, and New York style egg creams.  The Capitol Riverfront […]

Get Ready to moveDC

Have you ever wanted to tell city staff what you think is important when it comes to modes of transportation?  Do you feel like more bike lanes would make commutes easier?  Are there tweaks to a bus route you think would be more logical than it currently is?  Is a crosswalk signal a few seconds […]
