Jon Penndorf

Jon Penndorf has been a Capitol Hill resident since 2006 but has lived in (and close-in to) Washington DC since 1995, and wonders when he can start telling people he is “from here” instead of saying he moved here for college from New York. An architect specializing in green design, Jon works for a large architecture firm with an office in Northwest DC. Off-the-clock he enjoys spending time outside with his family, traveling, making and sampling gin and bourbon cocktails, finding new restaurants to try, and of course writing. He contributes to local and national architecture association newsletters on a regular basis in addition to writing for THIH. Jon lives with his wife, daughter, son, and cat in their SE Hill rowhouse.

Saturday, March 24th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Payne Elementary School’s […]

Reservation 13 Hearings This Week

In the “any day now” category of DC government workings, Reservation 13 (the former site of DC General Hospital) was approved for a new master plan over ten years ago by the DC Council.  The plan, narrowed down from a number of submissions from developers, called for a mixed-use approach that promised new jobs, new […]

Rock 'n' Roll Marathon This Saturday

This week is turning into quite the carnival on Capitol Hill.  We started with elephants and clowns parading through our streets, and the week ends with thousands of runners racing through the area (and greater Washington) as part of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon 2012.  (Throw in a giant music and drinking festival at RFK for […]

Elephants Take to the Hill. Clowns, Too.

No, this isn’t an allusion to a Republican party meeting.  In fact, no politics are involved.  The annual parade of performers and animals from Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus travels through Capitol Hill Tuesday evening, March 13.  They will de-train near Garfield Park and traverse the neighborhood and city streets on their way to […]
