Jen DeMayo

Jen DeMayo has been a waitress, an actor, a puppeteer and a writer for the Hill Rag. She worked for many years for the Atlas Performing Arts Center which has resulted in her being a relentless H Street booster/Streetcar apologist. She is originally from the New York-New Jersey area and is consequently one of the many who whine endlessly about DC’s lack of good bagels and pizza. She is the mom to two boys who currently attend DCPS (off the Hill.) No matter what she may end up accomplishing in her life, she is sure that her obituary headline will say she was the founder of Moms on the Hill.

Monday Morning Circle Time

Good morning, hope you had a swell weekend. The summer is really here now. Code orange warnings, summer blockbusters and skimpy clothing everywhere. Speaking of skimpy clothing, this weekend was of course Pride weekend, celebrating the LGBT community. Lots of rainbow events all over town, and according to my Facebook feed, around the country. We […]

“I’m looking for a  Stalin mustache.” “Did you call earlier today?” “No. Huh. Wow! Imagine two people needing a Stalin mustache on a random Friday in June!” Silence. And then it occurred to me that at Backstage that sort of request was probably not all that uncommon. I had that conversation last Friday afternoon in […]
