Monday Morning Circle Time

Biergarten House on Opening Day

This weekend was a hot one. It was the DC-summer weather we know and loathe. Well at least Kyra tipped us off as to all of our pool options for getting cool in between viewing soccer games. Did any of THIHers follow up on her suggestions?

Nichole: Picked up my best friend at the airport Friday afternoon and headed back to the Hill to grill on the patio with friends. When we ran out of beer, we headed to Tunnicliff’s to end the night. Saturday we spent the day on the shores of the Patuxent River followed by dinner at Sticky Rice and drinks at Little Miss Whiskey’s and Molly Malone’s. On Sunday, we laid around in the ac and watched bad reality tv before grabbing salads for dinner at Sweetgreen.

Tory: After arriving home from the family vacation to California, I took off to Miami for the AIA National Convention. After long days walking the show floor, I met up with a friend for dinner and drinks on South Beach. I arrived home late Saturday night and tried to catch up on life…I am looking forward to life getting back to normal on Capitol Hill this week.

Kyra: Weekend highlights included an evening around our new fire pit and holding Eleanor Holmes Norton’s purse at the Hill Center groundbreaking.

Robert: Post-dinner milkshakes from Ted’s started off the weekend on Friday. Saturday was quiet, with collards from our CSA and a ham hock from Eastern Market making our dinner, Sunday we went to the Hill Center groundbreaking and then out to Annapolis to meet a new nephew.

Claudia: In a jam-packed weekend back from vacation I caught up with friends at Tunnicliff’s, Chesapeake Room, Molly Malone’s, and Cava…and spent half of my weekend in the suburbs of Virginia, which only reminded me how much I love living in a neighborhood where I can walk or bike to everything I need.  I’m baffled at how bad traffic can be on 66 in the middle of a Saturday afternoon, and so grateful I don’t have to commute on that road every day.

Maria: Spent a fun, hot afternoon hosting a fun party that was successful thanks to the moonbouce.  Checked soccer scores on the sly.

Liz: Still Botox-free (so stop examining my face, folks) I celebrated fab son’s fab birthday all day Saturday at Adventure Park USA, pool party Sunday at Cheverly, and am feeling antsy after a weekend mostly off the Hill.

Jon: I spent the better part of the week in Miami at the AIA National Convention, so my weekend ended with some decompressing beach time and taking in all that South Beach had to offer.

Jen: I peeked in at the much-anticipated Biergarten House just after it opened Friday morning and thought it was just snazzy. Did not partake in the popular beer and egg breakfast though. Kids and I ate a yummy dinner with friends at Toscana that night to celebrate one of the childrens’ victory in the Two River’s Vocabulary Fashion Show (his word was scorch). Saturday was spent preparing treats for my second-and-this-is-nearing-Paris-Hilton-territory birthday party that evening at SOVA. Sunday was spend recuperating poolside.
