Tonight from 6-10pm is Geek Night Out at Labyrinth Games and Puzzles. Geeks get their very own night on the fourth Thursday of every month. This event is free and open to the public, but seats tend to fill up quickly so get there as close to 6 as you can.
Friday and Saturday nights, Liner Notes is back at the Atlas. April’s edition is all about L-O-V-E! A live musical journey through hip hop’s many intersections featuring Kris Funn and the Corner Store Jazz Trio, Baye Harrell, Paige Hernandez and Akua Allrich. Tickets are $15-$20 and are available here.
Library of Congress has been celebrating Preservation Week 2013. On Friday from noon to 1 p.m Christiane Baryla, director of the International Federation of Library Associations Core Activity on Preservation and Conservation, will speak on international preservation efforts, called “PAC: A Packed Agenda for Conserving Libraries’ Heritage — 20 Years of Changes and Development”—Lecture:” Pickford Theater, on the third of the James Madison Building, 101 Independence Ave. S.E., Washington, D.C.

On Saturday, CHAW is holding the 4th annual student ceramic sale at Eastern Market. From 9am – 4pm work of CHAW students will be on sale and proceeds will benefit CHAW. (Note, purchase of a piece will indeed cause you to be CHAWsome.)
The Fourth Annual Kingman Island Bluegrass Festival takes place from 1pm -7pm. The event is presented by Events DC, featuring seven bluegrass bands including The Hackensaw Boys and more. The festival will celebrate local music, food, and culture as well as the revitalization of the Anacostia River.In addition to the music, you will find some of DC’s favorite food trucks, Sierra Nevada beer, bike giveaways from BicycleSPACE and tours of the island, local music busking stages, and a children’s area with crafts and games. There is a $10 suggested donation this can be purchased ahead of time here.
So this one is not quite on the Hill but it is still quite close and awesome; the Friends of the National Arboretum is holding its annual Garden Fair and Plant Sale this weekend. Everyday favorites as well as some hard to find plants will be available for purchase to take home and cultivate (or in my case, slowly kill.) The weekend begins with a Members-Only sale Friday morning from 10am -1pm and it is open to the public from 1pm -4pm. The sale continues on Saturday from 9am -4pm. Be sure an take a peek at the azaleas!
