I’m headed to the mountains for some much needed time sleeping under the stars, but for those of you sticking around this weekend, we’ve got some ideas for how to spend it.
Thursday August 20
Who ya’ gonna call? Catch the last 80s movie of the summer at the Capitol Riverfront. Ghostbusters plays tonight at sundown at Tingey Plaza.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Hill, the fine folks from Harrisburg, PA’s Troegs Brewery will be at the Red & the Black as part of DC Beer Week. Get a pint and keep the glass starting at 7pm.
Friday August 21
Thank you, Stephen Strasburg! You may have cost the Nats $15.1M, but you’re only costing the rest of us a buck on Friday. Head down to Nationals Park for the official introduction of Strasburg and watch the Nats take on the Brewers for a dollar. The $1 tickets are sold out online, but you can head down to the stadium at noon and try to snag one of the 1,000 available.
If you don’t manage to snag any of the dollar tickets, you can still get into the game at a discount if you mention DC Beer Week.
Saturday August 22
From 10am-3pm, head to the US Botanic Garden for Art in the Garden. This time around, they’ll be demonstrating the art of plants in food.
Capitol Hill Yoga is offering a Saturday Serenity Workshop from 3pm-5pm.
Skateable Graffiti comes to the Fridge at 5pm. Food, drinks, and a silent art auction benefit the artists and public skateboarding.
Sunday August 23
Spike will be at Capitol Skyline’s Pool at 8:15 for Spike’d Cinema. This week’s movie is Office Space, so have your TPS reports and red Swingline ready. Doors open at Noon – spend the afternoon at the pool, and stay for wacky Initech hijinks.
