- MPD Seeking Suspects in L Street Armed Robbery
The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying suspects in an armed robbery that occurred in Northwest.
On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at approximately 1:34 p.m., First District officers responded to the unit block of L Street, Northwest, for the report of a robbery. Three suspects, operating two electric scooters, approached the victim. One of the suspects brandished a firearm and, while restraining the victim, demanded his property. After the victim complied, the suspects fled on scooters.
The suspects were captured by nearby surveillance cameras and can be seen in the photo attached above.
- MPD Seeking Suspect in New York Avenue Shooting
The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect who shot a victim in Northeast.
On Thursday, September 24, 2026, at approximately 5:35 p.m., the suspect stole items from a store in the 1500 block of New York Avenue, Northeast. As he exited, two employees, including an armed special police officer, confronted him. The suspect assaulted them and used pepper spray, then gained control of the special police officer’s firearm and fired one round, striking an uninvolved bystander. The officer regained control of the weapon before the suspect fled the scene on a scooter. The bystander and the special police officer were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The second employee was not injured.

- MPD Makes Arrest in 21st Street Carjacking
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announces an arrest made in an unarmed carjacking that occurred in Northeast.
On Thursday, September 10, 2026, at approximately 4:52 p.m., the suspects approached the victim, who was seated in their vehicle, in the 500 block of 21st Street, Northeast. One of the suspects forced the victim out of the vehicle, and the suspects fled the scene in the vehicle. The victim’s vehicle has been recovered.
On Thursday, September 24, 2026, 19-year-old Niko Wilson, of Northwest, DC, was arrested for Unarmed Carjacking.
- MPD Makes Road Rage Arrest in Southeast
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect following a road rage incident that occurred in Southeast.
On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at approximately 7:41 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to the 2500 block of Marion Barry Avenue, Southeast, for the report of an assault. The victim was driving next to the suspect when, following a traffic dispute, the suspect pointed a gun at the victim, verbally threatened the victim, and then fled the scene. As the suspect drove off, he fired the gun into the air.
On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 65-year-old Gregory Williams of Fort Washington, Maryland.
Williams was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Endangerment with a Firearm.
- MPD Investigating Rhode Island Avenue Bicyclist Fatality
The Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit is investigating a traffic fatality involving a bicyclist in Northwest.
On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at approximately 1:04 p.m., Third District officers responded to the 1300 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northwest, for the report of a crash involving a commercial box truck and a bicyclist. Responding officers located an adult male with critical injuries. DC Fire and EMS determined the male showed no signs consistent with life and pronounced him deceased on the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the bicyclist was operating an electric bicycle without a helmet and was merging from the park at Logan Circle onto the 1300 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northwest, on the wrong side of the roadway. As the bicyclist attempted to cross over to the correct lanes, he struck a commercial vehicle that had just turned off Logan Circle, Northwest. The bicyclist fell from the e-bike and was subsequently run over by the commercial vehicle.
The operator of the commercial vehicle remained on the scene, and no signs of impairment were observed. Members of the Motor Carrier Unit responded and conducted an inspection of the commercial vehicle, finding no out-of-service violations.
The decedent has been identified as 60-year-old Oludare Ayodele Adekoya, of Northwest, D.C.
