It’s pretty exciting watching the final stages of construction along I-395/295 along I Street SE. The price of progress is a few (more) pain points. Next week, Tuesday and Wednesday, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes roadways for bridge and tunnel inspections.
DDOT will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways on Tuesday, January 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting:
- Kenilworth Avenue under Benning Road alternating right and left lane closures of Northbound Kenilworth Avenue under Benning Road followed by alternating right and left shoulder closures of the Northbound on and off ramps for Kenilworth Avenue under Benning Road
DDOT will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways on Wednesday, January 30, weather permitting:
- Ramp from Southbound I-395 to Eastbound I-695 over South Capitol Street alternating right and left lane closures from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, weather permitting
- Ramp from westbound I-695 to northbound I-395 over South Capitol Street partial lane closure, from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm, weather permitting
Drive safe and keep an eye out for potholes — and report them! Hopefully 2019 Potholepalooza is around the corner.
