Kids:

Walk to School Day is TOMORROW!!!

I don’t know about you but much of my informal schooling happened on 30-minute bus rides. Those were hours and hours I could never get back — there were only so many Beverly Cleary and Judy Bloom books to inhale. Many lucky students here on the Hill rarely spend time on buses, many because they can walk to school. They’re pros, and they’ll be out in droves for Walk to School Day, a celebration of petite pedestrians and as many granola bars you can eat before 8 a.m.

School groups are meeting up at 7:30 a.m. at Lincoln Park so SLOW your roll. The kids will depart to their respective schools around 8:10 a.m. so plan to avoid that area if you’re in a hurry. Kiddos are fast little buggers, except when you’re trying to get them to actually go anywhere. Trust me on this.

“DC celebs” including DCPS interim chancellor Amanda Alexander will be part of the rally.

The Capitol Hill Public School Parent Organization, the Capitol Hill Community Foundation and Safe Routes sponsor the yearly event.
