If you’re a new parent, car seat installation can seem insurmountable– or maybe I’m having flashbacks. In any case, it’s essential you get the carseat installed correctly — so what could be better than having an expert look it over?
DC DMV is closing out Child Passenger Safety Week by hosting its annual FREE Child Car Seat Check and Install. DMV experts will be on hand and offering their services on Saturday, September 29, 2-7 p.m. at 1001 Half Street NE.
While supplies last, booster seats will be given out to children at least 4-years-old. You must be a DC resident and the child and vehicle must be present to receive a booster seat.
If you can’t make it Saturday, rest assured DMV has got your back all year. They’ve expanded the free child car seat inspections and installations from two days to five days a week. The inspections and installations are held Tuesday through Saturday at the Inspection Station during normal operating hours.
Along with DC DMV, representatives from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), Emergency Medical Services for Children and DC Safe Kids will be on-site to demonstrate how to correctly install a child safety seat.
