School Auctions: Cluster Rocks the Atlas This Friday

ClusterRocksLogo2015-640x132There’s no argument that school auctions are a nifty way to support schools and nab some deals with neighborhood-minded local businesses. Want to see your auction money go a really long way? More than 1,100 public school students on Capitol Hill are the beneficiaries of funds earned from the “Cluster Rocks” Gala & Auction at the Atlas Performing Arts Center this Friday. The Capitol Hill Cluster School is a multi-campus school, with students at Peabody Primary, Watkins Elementary, and Stuart-Hobson Middle School.

Tickets to the event cost $45 — $50 starting Thursday — and the fun starts at 7 p.m. Wine from The Wine Institute, food by Red Rocks Neapolitan Bistro on H Street, and dancing and music by DJ Bobby are all quite enticing, but it’s the items on the auction block that should really grab your attention!

Impress your friends with tickets to “The Daily Show,” “Pardon the Interruption” or “The Nutcracker.” You can bid on passes for a special tour of the DC Facebook offices, Disney World, the Bronx Zoo, and unlimited yoga, or sign up for private exercise, cooking, swimming and ski classes. Or, if you need a break from all things DC, bid on a weekend in a NYC apartment, a week at a farmhouse in Maine, Ft. Lauderdale or Ocean City, NJ. Bid high enough and you just might be watching the 4th of July fireworks from a rooftop with an amazing view, or dining with your choice of Grover Norquist, City Councilmember David Grosso or Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton.

When: Friday, March 20, 7-11 p.m.

Where: Atlas Performing Arts Center, 1333 H Street, NE

Why: The auction helps fund everything from extra support for literacy advancement, expanding academic offerings and library resources, playground amenities, and support for music, theatre and visual arts programs

How: Check out the items on the block and buy tickets here, put on your dance shoes and head over to the Atlas, OR  bid online
