Navy Yard Sweetgreen Opens Today

thehillishome_on_InstagramSweetgreen’s newest location, in the first floor of the new 12Twelve building at 4th and N Streets, SE, is officially opening today! Bonus: for their soft opening today, pay what you want for your salad and all proceeds go to FreshFarm Markets.

If you are not familiar with Sweetgreen, the local chain was started by a few Georgetown graduates in 2007. Its first location was on M Street in Georgetown. From what I remember at the time, it was the first specialty salad shop in town, which is a bit hard to believe when you see how many there are around town now. Over the last seven years they have expanded to New York, Boston and Philadelphia. They now have 27 locations.

The only downside to their expansion is that as they add more items such as rice bowls to the menu, they are phasing out Sweetflow, the delicious frozen yogurt with which I fell in love when they first opened. Luckily, Capitol Hill residents can still get their fix at the location on the 200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.
