We’re so excited to be celebrating our second anniversary in business, here on the Hill!
Capitol Hill has that small town feel about it, and we are so happy to have so many regular customers that have welcomed us and made Sapore their go-to spot for their cooking needs. Sapore, which means in Italian “flavor, taste, savor or gusto,” is a tasting room and gourmet retail store specializing in premium extra virgin olive oils, vinegars, salts, spices, and pastas and other culinary savories and sweets.
The fact that we are a tasting room has been one of the keys to our success. We encourage you to sample before you buy, and even send you home with recipes and cooking ideas!
If you haven’t already been, please come by and say hello. We’re located at 660 Pennsylvania Avenue SE, at the corner of 7th Street; right around the corner from Eastern Market and conveniently sandwiched between Le Pan Quotidien bakery and SONA Creamery.
Since we opened in March of 2012, we’ve added a line of spices, salts and whole peppercorns, as well as gluten free pastas. (We also added some hot sauces to satisfy my need for Southwestern spicy foods!) We’re looking forward to growing with the neighborhood and continuing to add more goodies to our list of offerings.
Although we had our share of “doubters” who thought such a specialized store couldn’t survive, I’m pleased to report that many of them are now our regular customers. We’re more about reasonably priced every day products, than expensive one-time special occasion splurges. Once you taste the good stuff, there’s no going back!
The name of the store says it all: “SAPORE”(Italian) to taste, flavor, savor. Gusto.
