Tonight is another Ward 6 candidate forum! Democrats Charles Allen and Darrell Thompson will be joined by Libertarian Pranav Badwar. It will take place from 7-9 pm at Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church, 4th and Independence, SE, and is co-sponsored by Eastern Market Metro Community Association, Capitol Hill Public School Parents Organization , and Capitol Hill Group Ministry.
The Atlas opens their 5th Annual INTERSECTIONS Festival Friday night. If you have not read any of my many previous promos posts about INTERSECTIONS I will briefly explain the concept. The festival aims to bring artists and audiences, from diverse ethnic, age, cultural and artistic backgrounds, together under one roof and for three weekends highlight the glorious way that art can bring us together. So for example, on opening night is our local orchestra, The Capital City Symphony will be performing world premier piece with a Go-Go beat in Go Go Symphony. There are all kinds of performances for every age. including babies. Yes theatre for humans ages 0-2 I kid you not. Arts on the Horizon is bringing their latest show Under the Canopy which is aimed at the teeniest of audiences and their 3-4 year old friends. There are events in jazz, hip-hop, spoken word, all kinds of dance, a bi-lingual kid’s show with puppets… Seriously something for almost everyone and some of it’s free. Over at the Hill Center Chris Richards, pop music critic for The Washington Post, launches District Sounds, a new concert series featuring some of the most intriguing musicians at the forefront of DC’s eclectic music scene. Each concert begins with a 30-minute discussion by Richards with the musicians, followed by the concert. First up is Cigarette, described as an “indie dream” band. The conversation starts at 7 and tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Buy yours here.
