Listen up, expecting, new, and already-struggling-with-a-toddler-thanks parents! It’s OPEN HOUSE SEASON at your local schools, and we’re here to keep you updated about it.
Why visit a school during open house? It’s a chance for you as a new parent to create fellow parent contacts, as well as to see the future learning environment of your child. (It’s also fun to sit in the little seats and play with the toys, to be perfectly honest, but I doubt that’s the chief reason you’d ever want to go to one of these things.)
Tomorrow, Wednesday January 15th, you can tour the new facilities at School-Within-School at Goding, 920 F Street NE. The SWS open house will run from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. There, you will not only get a chance to tour the facilities, but also talk to the staff about the Reggio-Emilia approach to child-directed learning. You will also meet some of the parents volunteering there, who can provide valuable experience about their school (Full Disclosure: I am a parent at SWS).
