  • If you are looking to up your Halloween pre-game, head to Union Market on Thursday to trick-or-treat.  From 4 – 7 p.m. there will be candy offerings for those in costume. No word on if you have to be under a certain age to qualify, but perhaps this becomes the new Halloween dinner spot prior to taking the family to Hilloween?
  • Last week saw the official limited opening of Curbside Cupcake Cafe at the corner of 15th and C Streets SE.  The Cafe is the first stand-alone permanent outpost for the god folks at Curbside Cupcakes, following up their successful food trucks and stall at Union Market.  The Cafe is currently open Tuesday through Friday from 7-10 a.m. only, and offers a full line of coffee and tea drinks with breakfast goods, like muffins and croissants.  The homemade roasted cinnamon apple pop-tarts are also getting rave reviews.  The owners hope to expand hours by Thanksgiving and will eventually offer soups and sandwiches for lunch.
  • The good folks at Dining Bisnow reported that the former Fusion Grill space on 8th Street, SE will soon be home to the second Medium Rare outpost.  The successful steak and frites joint from Cleveland Park offers a fixed-menu and fixed-price (bread, salad, steak, and potatoes for something like $19.50) and little else.
  • In more Union Market news… the market will be have new hours starting November 12th and operate six days a week.  More cheese and charcuterie for all!
