Two Years Ago This Week

TRASH

Two years seems like it was yesterday to me, and indeed, some of our stories might have been posted yesterday, like those from this week in 2011.

Who would have guessed we’d still be waiting for plans to be finalized for the development project at Hine Middle School? Well, certainly, the less optimistic of us did.

Take a look at this lede: When developers first acquired property at the site of the former Hine Junior High School on Capitol Hill two years ago, they had hoped to break ground on a mixed-use development by 2011.

Looking back, it was a shocker that Trashmob organized by ANC-6B rep Brian Flahavan found a good deal of litter at Potomac Avenue Metro plaza. While some things, like neighbors getting together to improve the neighborhood and the bad habits of litter bugs, never change, the good news is that that that area seems a little more tidy each year.

Certainly some things, like provocative discussions about sex, cause a stir through the ages. This post about online parental list-serve-based voyerism by our short lived columnist Frisky Franny was no different.
