Father’s Day weekend is upon us, and its shaping up to be a great weekend weather wise. In between what are hopefully your outdoor plans for enjoying the sun, how about also adding an activity that supports Dad and our beloved neighborhood Frager’s at the same time?
Got little ones? The Little Loft is holding a Father’s Day workshop tomorrow at 10am. You can make a tool belt to help Dad with his projects around the house or decorate a treasure box together. Open to kids ages three – eight. If you pre-register the cost is $20 and 25% of the proceeds from the workshop and retail sales tomorrow will go to the Capitol Hill Community Foundation to help Frager’s rebuild.
On Monday, online grocery store Relay Foods is also helping raise money for Frager’s. $10 from every gift card bought at the new Southeast pickup location on the Hill will be donated to Frager’s. Gift cards can be purchased on Monday between 4-8:00pm and at the new location (between 8th and I Street SE). Gift cards will also be available for purchase in front of Frager’s during this time and on the following Monday (June 24th). For more information visit their website.
And next Friday, the 21st, the DC Roller Girls will host a music-filled benefit at The Fridge, located at 516 8th Street SE, Rear alley. Doors open at 6:30 and the first band starts at 7 pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance here. All ticket sales will be donated to the Frager’s Fire Fund set up by the Capitol Hill Community Foundation (CHCF). The lineup includes:
- The Throckmortens – Rockabilly Bangers Bent of Reconstruction
- The NativeMakers – 60s n 70s Hit Makers
- Rodney Henry – of the Glenmont Popes (and of Dangerously Delicious Pies fame)
- Beer from DC Brau
- Slices of Pie from Dangerously Delicious Pies
I know I’m not the only one who can’t wait for the day Frager’s is back up and running in full force. Hope you’ll show Frager’s some love over the next few days.
