Friday May 31

The Fridge (6pm to 8pm)

If you grew up in the 70s or 80s, you watched superheroes save the world every Saturday morning.  In Men of Steel, Women of Wonder, a series of artists including DECOY, ULTRA & CHE KGB elevate comics to fine arts status.  For more info, click here.

Saturday June 1

DC Glassworks (10am to 2pm)

You may have attended a recent DC Glassworks studios glass blowing session; if you haven’t don’t miss the next one!  This weekend, you have an opportunity to see the work of a glass master- Andy Paiko.  This event is hosted through the James Renwick Alliance’s Distinguished Artist Series.  You must register for this event- for more info, click here.

2b Artist Studios (4pm to 8pm)

The Eckington artist studio hosts its second public open house.  This is the same space where one finds the “Small Gallery” located in the workspace’s bathroom! For more info, click here.

B Studios and the Small Room Gallery are located at 411 New York Avenue NE.

RandallScottProjects (6pm to 8pm)

H Street newcomer RandallScottProjects will show new works by Los Angeles-based artist Robert Kingston.  Like musical improvisation, Kingston’s works visually meander on the canvas creating detailed gestures and homogenous washes.  For more info, click here.

artdc Gallery (7pm to 10pm)

In The Chemical View, a group of photographers will show a wide range of mediums including examples of tintypes, ambrotypes, platinum and palladium prints, cyanotypes, Van Dyke prints, bromoils, gum prints, and hand-painted liquid emulsion prints. For more info, click here.

Selman Gallery (7pm to 11:30pm)

Conversations inaugurates the collaboration of artists Malone & Ceppetli.  The artists explain “We are two painters painting as one.” The large format work, which uses charcoal and re-used household paint, seeks to engage the viewer in the artists’ conversation. For more info, click here.
