Volunteers Needed for Rock n’ Roll Marathon

You don’t need to be a runner to be a rock star.

Volunteers are needed to help orchestrate the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, an event beginning and ending here on the Hill at RFK Stadium on Saturday morning, March 17th. A full 26.2-mile marathon, a half marathon and a two-person relay each begin with a picturesque morning run heading west on East Capitol St., feature local bands and cheer squads along the course, and end with a concert at the Armory Mall. Opportunities to do good without sweating it are available both on race day and on the days leading up to the main event. What better way to begin St. Patrick’s Day than to volunteer close to home and support the athletes traversing our neighborhood?

Event organizers are seeking volunteers to work the start and finish line at RFK, as well as people to help prepare for the event before race day — whether distributing “No Parking” fliers a week in advance on Sunday, March 10th, or setting up and/or working at the Expo at DC Armory on March 14, 15 and 16. Medical volunteers are also needed on March 17th for runners in need of assistance.

The D.C. event is one stop among many in the international Rock ‘n’ Roll series.
