I’m not new to musical theater—I was, after all, a singing fairy in my high school’s production of A Mid Summer Night’s Dream. In fact, acting runs in my family. It just so happens that a very distant cousin is an actress in Hollywood. So when I saw that St. Mark’s Players would be hosting auditions for A Secret Garden, I was instantly intrigued. In fact, I was intrigued enough to pencil the audition dates into my schedule. I, Kyra DeBlaker-Gebhard, one-time fairy and full-time drama queen, will seek to recapture my youth, well, let’s say see if I’ve got what it takes to make it in community theater.
While the total length of this series depends solely on my success or failure in the audition, stay tuned for part two next week.
