On Monday Forrest City Washington announced seven restaurants and a Harris Teeter supermarket are anticipated to take space in The Yards development at the southeast waterfront, near Nationals Ballpark. The tenants are expected to open starting in the spring of 2012 and are spread among three reused buildings on the site.
In the Foundry Lofts building, we can expect a Potbelly sandwich shop and Kruba Thai & Sushi. The Boilermaker Shops will be home to a the third location for Buzz Bakery as well as a new craft brewery from the folks at Neighborhood Restaurant Group. From Thompson Hospitality will come two new concept eateries: Austin Grill Express for casual Tex-Mex cuisine and brb-be right burger, serving hormone-free beef. Rounding out the restaurant options is Huey’s 24/7 Diner, a “classic New Orleans” diner experience offering homestyle meals and creole favorites.
Occupying 401 M Street SE will be a full-service Harris Teeter, including sushi bar, cafe, and wine department. The supermarket is scheduled to open in the 2013.
When completed, the Yards will offer more than 2,800 residential units, office space, retail, and entertainment venues. The first residential building comes, the Foundry Lofts Apartments, is scheduled to open this coming October.
