And we’re back. So okay not everyone got to enjoy the three-day weekend that just passed but forgive me as I exist both in public school-land and non-profit land where, well, they can’t pay you very much but you sure can have all the federal holidays off!
It was a big weekend with the grand reopening of the Argonaut and the kick off of Restaurant Week and H Street Eats. There were also some important football games I take it? Oh and the First Family paid Capitol Hill a visit yesterday as they volunteered at Stuart Hobson Middle School.
Not too shabby Capitol Hill.
So what did you all do?
Jon: Enjoyed a long weekend of projects around the house, sleeping in, and great food. Sunday dinner was enjoyed at Smith Commons (the burger rocks) and dessert at Ted’s.
Lauren: On Friday good friends brought their 3 week old baby girl over to our house for dinner. Saturday I caught up on a long list of household chores and met up with friends that night. Sunday and Monday were spent testing out recipes in our newly renovated kitchen. Cinnamon swirl bread in the oven as I type!
Sharee: We enjoyed a relaxed long weekend in the neighborhood that included brunch at the neighbor’s, a repeat trip to Smith Commons for dinner and a sneak peek at H Street’s newest soon-to-be hot spot Church and State.
Maria: spent part of her weekend worshiping cable and playing the drums badly on the Wii ; eating her weight in mixed nuts; exploring an off-Hill restaurant that serves macarons for dessert (aren’t we supposed to be getting a macaron shop soon?); enjoying a Gin Rickey with fellow THIHers and taking tons of pictures at the soft opening of Church and State; and being thankful that on a hot summer afternoon, a man spoke to the nation and dared to dream of a better world.
Jen: Friday night the family went to the soft opening of the Argonaut and enjoyed some new taco offerings. Saturday my folks came down from Jersey and that evening we tried Ma Vecinidad for the first time and were really impressed. Sunday we attempted to go to the Philips collection’s 90th anniversary celebration but were daunted by the line which wrapped around the block so we got fro yo instead. That evening I made my kick ass chili while my dad SCREAMED at the Jets on TV. Monday we relaxed and hosted a few playdates and got ready for the short week.
