Where do you turn when the roast gets burned on Christmas day? While most of the businesses on Capitol Hill will be closed on Christmas (some on Christmas Eve too–when in doubt call for hours), there are a number of restaurants and service providers that will open their doors for paying customers for people who don’t observe Christmas, who need some time away from the family, or who need to replace a damaged meal.
The Capitol Hill BID has started a list of its business members who will be open on Christmas and New Year’s, and they’ll be updating that list as more information is available.
In addition to the CHBID list, there are signs in the windows of Mi Vecindad has signs in the windows stating they will be open both Christmas and New Year’s. Chinese food restaurants are also a safe bet for open hours on the holidays (call first if you want delivery though as some establishments don’t deliver on holidays).
If you run out of eggnog or chestnuts, Safeway at 14th Street SE will be open until 7:00 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be open Christmas Day 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
