Hill Holiday Recipes – Seventh Hill

We’re just days before Christmas.  Got the presents wrapped? Tree trimmed?  Menus planned?  Food always played a big part in the Christmas and New Year’s traditions in my home growing up, and I thought it might be interesting to find out what foods or dishes are cherished by our neighborhood chefs and restaurateurs.  This week, THIH will be bringing you recipes from the chefs at Hill restaurants–consider it a little gift from your friendly neighborhood blog to you!

Today’s sweet snack comes from Chef Anthony Pilla at Seventh Hill Pizza

This is one of my favorite holiday recipes, because it reminds me of my mom and family. This cookie would typically be given to our neighbours and friends as a sign of appreciation and love.

Papatelli
8 eggs, extra large
2 cups of sugar
2 tsp. of orange flavor, or
1 large grated orange peel
4 cups of toasted almonds
5 cups of flour

Beat eggs and sugar till creamy
Add orange flavor
Add flour
Add almonds

Make into logs and bake for about 20 minutes at 350 degrees or brown on bottom of logs.

Cut logs and toast cookies in oven till golden.
