Welcome back after what I hope was a great Memorial Day weekend!  I’m nursing some serious sunburn from my weekend camping and canoeing out on the Patuxent River and am already looking forward to the next time I get to spend a weekend in the woods.  Claudia is off hiking the Inca Trail, so I’m filling in with your weekly dose of Hill Buzz!

The first day back to work after a 3 day weekend is always tough. The good news is that it’s only a 4 day week!  I’m here to help you delay digging into work with a roundup of what folks around town have been saying about our fair neighborhood!

Last week’s big news centered around the whiplash-inducing drama surrounding the future of streetcars. For those of us who are enduring seemingly never-ending construction along H Street, the idea that it was all for naught was not a pleasant one. Greater Greater Washington broke the news, and it was discussed at length on DCist, We Love DC and Prince of Petworth, among many, many others.  GGW then detailed how social media allowed public outcry to be heard instantly across the internet.

The Washington Post reported on the final report from DC Fire/EMS that determined that the 2007 fire at Eastern Market was caused by electrical issues.

The DC Housing Authority has officially asked the Marines to stop considering square 882 for their new barracks. As always, JD Land has the full scoop.

As part of its Food Month, Brightest Young Things takes a peek inside Spike Mendelsohn’s Capitol Hill home’s refrigerator. I hope the We, the Pizza boxes mean that an opening is coming soon!

H Street Great Street shares that Ethiopic made Washingtonian’s Cheap Eats/Best Bargains list. Congrats!

And lastly, Prince of Petworth shares these great pictures of a very relaxed Capitol Hill pooch!
