Kingsman Field Dog Park Update

Well, there’s good news and there’s bad news.

Yet again, the construction of the dog park at Kingsman Field has been delayed: so there’s your bad news. I’m not sure there’s anything more frustrating than having to wait on city government for something to get done.

The good news is that the construction contract for Kingsman Field will be awarded to the ARJ Group on May 14!  The delay is the result of, “a mix-up at the Department of Real Estate Services (DRES), which is the city agency that is responsible for managing the bidding process for all city contracts,” according to the Hill Hounds website.  This means that the new construction timeline has the groundbreaking taking place sometime in mid-summer, with the park opening early this fall.

This new timeline also means that you now have until June 1 to purchase an inscribed brick for Fido. Please head to the Hill Hounds website to get your brick now!  Currently, the website is experiencing some technical difficulties which are preventing Hill Hounds from accepting online donations. However, you can still submit your inscription, and send a check to the address listed on the site. This should be remedied in a few days though, so sit tight and we’ll keep you posted on when the website is fixed!

Hi Nichole- Thanks for the update! Is there a projected completion date for the park? and where will it be exactly? My fur child and I are eagerly anticipating the new park!!

  2. Our hope is that the park will be completed by the early fall. All signs and indications from DPR point to that timeframe.

The park will be located at Kingsman Field, at 13th and D NE, behind Options Charter School, in the area that is currently unused asphalt, next to the basketball courts and sports field.
