Our four-legged friends are not just pets: they are part of the family. So of course they get their own stocking on the mantel and a gift under the tree on Christmas day! You know they love their chew toys, squeaky toys, and tasty treats, so fill their stocking with local goods this year.
We have two fabulous pet stores on the Hill that can help you with pretty much all of your shopping needs: Howl to the Chief at 733 8th Street SE, and Metro Mutts, which has locations at 508 H Street NE and 407 8th Street SE. And for the pet owners, Hill’s Kitchen at 713 D Street SE has you more than covered with cute dog- and cat-lover gifts.
At Howl to the Chief, pick up some adorable hand-crafted dog cookies, or ornaments for the tree. In addition to a large selection of toys, they also have ready-to-go gift baskets.
At Metro Mutts, you have a full selection of hand-crafted dog cookies, an advent calendar for your pet, or a stocking already filled with goodies for your dog. They also have a great selection of pet-themed cards that are sure to give pet owners a chuckle.
For the pet owners, swing by Hill’s Kitchen for cookie cutters, animal-themed dish towels, and even cat and dog lover pasta.
To get a picture with Santa, bring your pet by Howl to the Chief on Saturday, December 13th. They are having a holiday sale with 20% on all dog and cat toys, beds, bowls, coats and sweaters. There will be photos with Santa from 10AM – 4PM ($10 – all proceeds go to Rural Dog Rescue), and hot apple cider, cookies and appetizers while you shop.
