Jon Penndorf

Jon Penndorf has been a Capitol Hill resident since 2006 but has lived in (and close-in to) Washington DC since 1995, and wonders when he can start telling people he is “from here” instead of saying he moved here for college from New York. An architect specializing in green design, Jon works for a large architecture firm with an office in Northwest DC. Off-the-clock he enjoys spending time outside with his family, traveling, making and sampling gin and bourbon cocktails, finding new restaurants to try, and of course writing. He contributes to local and national architecture association newsletters on a regular basis in addition to writing for THIH. Jon lives with his wife, daughter, son, and cat in their SE Hill rowhouse.

Hill Couple on HGTV's "House Hunters"

I freely admit to getting sucked in to 30-minute semi-reality shows on channels like HGTV and the Discovery Channel, and “House Hunters” is both hypnotizing and frustrating to me at the same time.  But multiple times a week, I get to accompany one or two folks and their realtors on a tour of three potential […]

And the Winners Are…THIH Summer Photo Contest

The tribe has spoken!  Our readers have spoken too, or rather voted.  Thank you to all the avid photographers who entered our first ever photo contest.  We were delighted and amused by the entries.  The staff of The Hill Is Home deliberated for thousands of seconds and several cocktails to pick those deemed prize-worthy, and […]
