Monday Morning Circle Time

So we got a bit of a break from the bitter cold this weekend although the snow from last week’s mini-storm has not budged. I’m hearing talk of a mega-storm this week which I hope won’t pass us by. I loved working in my pjs which was broken up with baking experiments and sledding at the Capitol.

Of course I caught a glimpse of some warm weather wear while out shopping this weekend and briefly imagined life without boots and lost mittens. Flip flops and sunscreen are so much less bulky by the front door…But I won’t wish this away…the brutal DC summer will be here soon.

So how did you all spend this relatively mild weekend?

Jon: Saturday was a super productive day, regrouting the bathtub and running errands.  We had a quick dinner at Taylor Gourmet and after took in the best of high school drama out in Bowie.  Sunday was also productive but relaxing, catching up on life and laundry.

Maria: Friday I enjoyed a caloriefest at Trusty’s, followed by a nap and an early bedtime (since I’m 94).  Saturday, ran errands around the Hill, mostly unsuccessfully, but got to enjoy the snowbanks and laughing at the yellow snow with the older child.  Sunday, puttered around the house; freaked out about some weird “off” sausages (clearly NOT
purchased at any of our fine Hill establishments); and ended the weekend on a high note, attending a play at the Folger Theater.

Angelique: On Friday, I perfected my margarita making skills which ended in me kicking the family’s butt in Wii Bowling, and than me falling asleep way to early. On Saturday,we had breakfast at Ted’s Bulletin and than we the little people to the Museum of Natural History and took in the dinosaur 3-D Imax movie, where the kids were both overjoyed and scared. On Sunday, I took on my culinary nemesis pancakes, and won. The kids went to a party, and my husband and I got to enjoy a quiet brunch at the Chesapeake room.

Lauren: Friday I worked late and then sat in front of the TV through 2 Lifetime movies. Saturday we readied the house for out of town company and went to dinner in Shirlington with friends. Inadvertently encountered an interesting social experiment when everyone in restaurant assumed friend’s baby was ours. Still not exactly sure why…

Jen: Picked up my sister at Megabus Friday night and fed her homemade gluten free pizza which she enjoyed. Saturday we took the kids to the DC Shorts festival at the Atlas and grabbed some tacos from Taco Impala for lunch. We tried to catch a movie but lost out on tickets because of our relentless lack of planning. Ended up at Souk for dinner which was satisfactory.  Sunday we took a tour of St. Anselms’ Abbey school and thought it was lovely…just that pesky tuition in our way.
