The Capitol Hill Group Ministry (CHGM), comprised of volunteers and clergy and rabbis from houses of worship on Capitol Hill, will offer free tax clinics from next week until tax day. The mission statement of the organization is to “engage neighbors, congregations, and organizations in our community in celebrating our shared commitment to social justice.” For those facing the daunting task of filing their taxes, this assistance takes some of the stress out of the process. CHGM has been proving this invaluable service for 41 years.
The clinics, limited to those individuals and families earning less than $57,000, are scheduled for Thursdays evenings from 7-8:30 p.m. starting February 27 and running through April 10. The free services will also be available on April 15. The clinics are held at the Lincoln United Methodist Church at 1301 North Carolina Avenue, NE. Appointments are required to participate.
