Are you cooking for Thanksgiving? Or giving thanks that someone else is commandeering the kitchen? Either way, pack an extra bag with all the fixings while you’re loading up your cart at the grocery store. You can make a big difference to what’s on the table in the home’s of your needier neighbors. Capitol Hill Group Ministry (CHGM), with the help of Mothers on the Hill (MOTH) are packing baskets for Thanksgiving for families on Capitol Hill. See the website for a full list, but important items include green beans, yams, cranberry sauce, cake mix and $20 gift cards. (turkey is key!) The goal is to feed at least 1500 people this year. Tomorrow is the deadline to drop your items off at the THE SILVER SPORK, 303 7th Street SE, or you can drop them off directly off at Shirley’s Place, the CHGM’s annex located at 1338 G Street, SE. Come back Saturday, November 23, to help pack the meals from noon- 2 PM. Bring a jacket: you’ll be boxing things up outside.

Mother Teresa said it well, “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one.”
